Garden Wedding Reception
Thinking of holding your Wedding Reception at home? An article by Buchannan Marquees
One of the advantages of using either the Bride or Groom’s home as the wedding reception venue is the fact that it can be an immediate icebreaker for those guests who have not met eachother before. Not many houses are big enough to host a wedding reception, therefore a marquee in the family garden can be the perfect solution.
Marquees are available in all shapes and sizes and most marquee companies offer a free no obligation site survey, when they can look at the logistics for planning your special day. This can include things like where your guests are going to park their cars and which part of the garden is most suitable to site your marquee considering such things as ponds, small trees, flower beds and garden ornaments. There are hundreds of way to make your marquee unique and personal in a way no other venue can. One example of this can be simple up-lighting using coloured gel overlays which can create a stunning look outside the marquee, illuminating your favourite trees or garden feature.
The inside of the marquee can be lined in a contemporary or traditional way. Options include starlight roof lining above the dance floor, or incorporating the Bridesmaids colours using swag, tails and coloured table linen. “Fake” linings could also be used to hide an area until it comes into use – for example a band could start to play behind the linings before they fall to reveal the dance floor.
Floral decoration can be clamped to poles or suspended from the ridge of the marquee, something the mother of the bride may enjoy getting involved with!
Many marquee companies can now show you a computer illustrated design of the layout of your marquee – showing you before the marquee is erected, where things like access points, tables, toilets and the dance floor will be situated.
One thing to remember is that many suppliers are taking bookings for up to a year in advance for popular summer dates, try not to leave your arrangements until the last moment.
Planning early will allow you to relax and enjoy your Engagement.
