The introduction of oil based materials such as PVC to the manufacture of marquees originated in continental Europe. Many marquee hire firms replaced their traditional canvas with PVC.
After researching the detrimental affects of PVC on the environment Penrose Marquees made a policy decision not to manufacture or hire PVC marquees. All of their marquees, both frame and traditional, are manufactured using natural canvas.
According to many people, not only is canvas environmentally better but because it is a natural material it performs better in extreme conditions. On a hot summers day the atmosphere inside a natural canvas marquee can be remarkably comfortable.
No manufacturing process is completely safe for the environment, but Penrose Marquees believe that if is possible to mitigate any potential damage then this is the right option.
