Covering Newport, Ryde, Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and all areas of the Isle of Wight.
Marquee Hire Isle of Wight covers the small island in the English Channel situated off the south coast of Hampshire. Two things the Isle of Wight is best known for are its natural beauty and the world famous sailing based around Cowes, home to the longest running regular sailing regatta in the world – Cowes week.
The population of the Isle of Wight is about 140,000 and the island is the smallest county in the UK (at high tide, at low tide it is the second smallest county!) The main towns on the Isle of Wight include Ryde, Newport, Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor.
Ryde is the biggest town on the Isle of Wight with a population of around 30,000 people. The town grew as a seaside resort in the 1800’s and is home to the fourth longest pier in the UK.
Seven miles from Ryde is the town of Newport, which is at the head of the River Medina’s navigable section.
Cowes is probably the Isle of Wight’s most famous town – because of Cowes Week – the sailing regatta. Cowes is home to the Royal Yacht Squadron - which is one of the world’s most elite yacht clubs.
Sandown and Shanklin are towns that are close to eachother. Sandown is situated on Sandown Bay, as is Shanklin. Sandown is also home to the Isle of Wight Zoo which is home to over 20 large cars – including a large number of tigers. Shanklin is home to two beaches – Hope Beach and Small Hope Beach. Shanklin is also home to America Wood – which is a special scientific interest site.
Ventnor is home to Ventnor Botanic Garden which enjoys annual rainfall of about 790mm. Some of the plants in the garden have been planted in the Isle of Wight, but originally came from as far away countries as New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
