In 2008 Queen Elizabeth the 2nd opened Heathrow’s controversial 5th Terminal, which had originally been conceived as early as 1982.
Uxbridge, in Middlesex is the home of Brunel University. Brunel is a well respected university which was established in 1966. Famous alumni include Tony Adams, Jo Brand and Audley Harrison. Uxbridge is also home to an RAF station which has a replica of a spitfire plane at its front entrance.
Shepperton is another town which is sometimes considered in Middlesex and sometimes in Surrey. The reason for this ambiguity is the fact that Middlesex has had its borders changed on a number of occasions. Shepperton studios are based in the town and were the place where many well known films were made. These films include Nineteen Eighty-Four, Shadowlands and The Madness of King George.
Chiswick is again traditionally in Middlesex. Chiswick is very accessible, due to the excellent rail and underground links all close by. These include Turnham Green, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury and Stamford Brook.
