Northampton is the home of the Northampton Balloon Festival which has in the past featured artists such as Sugababes, Ronan Keating and Lemar.

With over one hundred shoe factories at one point Rushden is often refered to as the home of the shoe or shoe city, Kettering in Northamptonshire is also well known for its footwear manufacturing .

In 2008 Lewis Hamilton became the first British winner of the British Grand Prix since the year 2000 when it was won by David Coulthard for the second year running. Other British winners in the last 20 years include Johnny Herbert, Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell.

Horse racing in the county is serviced by the course at Towcester, just off the A5.
