Market Drayton has an unusual claim to fame. If you were to draw a rectangle touching the most easterly, southern, westerly and northern points of England (including the isles of Scilly) the central point would be 2 miles to the south of the town.
During the English civil war the castle in Bridgnorth was damaged. A number of World War 2 experts also believe that the Shropshire town was intended to be Germany’s headquarters in the UK, had Germany won the 2nd World War.
