Cheshire is a county in the north west of England which has borders with Wales as well as a number of English counties. The city of Chester is in Cheshire and is also the county town. Chester is not the most populated area in Cheshire, however. Warrington is the most populated area. Cheshire has been the birth place of more than its fair share of England international football starts including Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Peter Crouch. Each of these players played for England at the 2006 Germany world cup.

Ellesmere Point in Cheshire is home to the Vauxhall motor car factory which has produced the Astra model for many years.

Salt is mined in Winsford and has been so since the 17th century, this is the same eara of history that had the Normans burning Nantwich in Cheshire to the ground.
